The Story of the Human Body: Evolution, Health, and Disease
by Daniel E. Lieberman

A fantastic book that delves into a greater understanding of the many “mismatch diseases of dysevolution” we are experiencing in our modern world. Many of the ideas and evidence presented in this book underpin much of the Satori BodyCare philosophy and approach to health and wellness.

Daniel E. Lieberman (born June 3, 1964) is a paleoanthropologist at Harvard University, where he is the Edwin M Lerner II Professor of Biological Sciences, and chair of the Department of Human Evolutionary Biology. He is best known for his research on the evolution of the human head and the evolution of the human body.

Lieberman studies how and why the human body is the way it is. His research combines paleontology, anatomy, physiology and experimental biomechanics in the lab and in the field. He has focused to a large extent on why and how humans have such unusual heads. He is also well known for his research on the evolution of human locomotion.

Move Your DNA: Restore Your Health Through Natural Movmement
by Katy Bowman

Just as orcas and other zoo animals suffer from "diseases of captivity," so do modern humans. Humorous, fascinating, and science-based, Move Your DNA brings the little-considered mechanical environment to light as a primary epigenetic factor contributing to the vast quantities of disease we are suffering from.

Katy Bowman addresses trending headlines such as "Sitting Is the New Smoking," and gives the popular "Paleo/barefoot" movement food for thought, like: Are standing workstations that much better than sitting? What's the safest way to move toward minimal shoes? Are Kegels and core exercises solving problems or creating them? Do we really need cardio exercise? DNA contains mere guidelines, and not pre-determined outcomes for our physical health. Bowman has assembled and presented content that won't be found anywhere else. Her unique approach to alignment and the semantics of health makes Move Your DNA arguably the most complete call to movement ever written. Light and friendly in tone, the movement and lifestyle program presented in this book can benefit any body.
